Korean War Memorial

These life size statues in Washington DC often go over looked for their nearby neighbor – the Lincoln Memorial. This was a very cool memorial though and I made sure to get over there to see the sun rising over the tops of the trees. At the front of this memorial slightly out of the frame were a bunch of monks chanting – it was a very cool scene.

The statues are extremely lifelike – except that they are eight feet tall – but otherwise the memorial is very well done and I’m surprised people don’t like it more. In all there are 19 soldiers and when reflecting on an adjacent wall it seems like there are 38 to represent the 38th parallel. Unfortunately, where the monks were standing was really the only place to get all 19 statues in frame so I had to settle for a side shot.
