The Hand of God Must Play a Role

I believe in evolution. But I also believe, when I hike the Grand Canyon and see it at sunset, that the hand of God is there also.

– John McCain

Hiking the Grand Canyon is an unbelievably humbling experience. If you’ve ever felt ‘big’ just go to the Grand Canyon and it will immediately put you in check. You can see rocks at the base of the canyon that are 200 million years old – if you ever felt you life was ‘significant’ just give that a noodle. The Earth has survived well over 200 million years without us, it will continue to go on without us and we are but a speck on the entire history of the thing. All and all we of course want to leave our mark (as we should) but we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously to think (for most of us at least) we actually matter. This is a short life so squeeze out what we can.

Carpe Diem!!!
