I’m off to Banff for a day or so in a couple of weeks before my meeting in Calgary on November 4th. It will be a long travel day to get there – unfortunately, American Airlines doesn’t fly direct Chicago to Calgary so I am connecting through Dallas. United is the only airline that flies direct from Chicago to Calgary but I needed the additional AA segments to activate a 10,000 mile bonus this year and well….I’m a mile whore. Sure it means that I have to get up at 5 AM on a Saturday to catch the flight instead of 9 AM. Yes, I’ll wind up getting home from Calgary on Monday night about four hours later also. However, none of that will matter when we cash those airline miles in for personal travel at some later date.
Photo of the Day – Misty Morning at the Vermillion Lakes
This is the third of the Vermillion Lakes in Banff National Park. No matter what happens in the winter months this lake stays pretty much unfrozen due to some sulfuric deposits on one of the edges of the lake. That along with the famous peak of Mount Rundle (not pictured in this photo) are one of the reasons that this spot is often packed with photographers during the sunrise no matter what time of year it is.
