POTUS

Earlier I saw the below on Facebook it was incorrectly linked to Abe Lincoln but regardless of who said it I still think it is very applicable and and I couldn’t agree with it more:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they should do for themselves.

Photo of the Day – The White House

I couldn’t agree more. I watched an episode of the History Channel’s ‘Men Who Built America’ tonight because I couldn’t stand more coverage of the election. It makes you realize the risks these ‘great’ men took. They (Andrew Carnegie, John Rockfeller, etc..) had great vision and took tremendous risks. They certainly got help along the way and may have even been lucky however, that isn’t what created their legacy. Their vision to see around the curve and see what is next – steel and oil in their cases – and the willingness to throw all their resources after chasing that vision is what made them great. There are alot of people I’m sure that took similar leaps of faith and were not successful – we will never know their names though because they failed and wound up working for one of the visionaries. There is nothing wrong with that of course – I’m never going to be a visionary – but the hatred spewed upon wealth in this country right now is sickening. Where would we be without those willing to take risk? What incentive do they have but to gain wealth and fame – to ‘keep score’ as the TV show puts it. Once that incentive goes away the whole pyramid upon which this country was built collapses.

When is Mark Cuban going to run?

Is this photo unnecessary in Black and White? I hated the color version because it was 1 PM and the skies were clear blue. I thought about masking in a new sky but just converted it to Black and White and I suddenly liked it better. All that matters is that we like the photos we take and I certainly find this more interesting than the color.
