Deep in the Heart of Texas

Well don’t know if it’s the ‘heart of Texas’ or not but off to Houston tomorrow for a meeting on Monday – this is a big week for me. A few meetings in Texas and my annual performance review/bonus/salary adjustment later this week.

Hoping all goes well on the review as my wife starts grad school full time in January. She is quitting her current career and starting down a new path – I’m very excited for her and while I know it will be a challenge financially I also know it’s the best thing for her and us so it shouldn’t be too hard to make the sacrifices.

Random – Bad Movie Tip
Watched one of the worst movies I think I’ve ever sat through tonight – it wasn’t Sharktopus (although that was on SyFy earlier and I did get sucked in – I seriously thought they made that up on Modern Family – I hope there is a sequel!) – it was called ‘In Time’ starring Justin Timberlake. I kept thinking it was going to get better but it never did. I’m warning you don’t watch it – seriously check out Sharktopus…at least they know their movie is bad.

Random blog
Spent too much time on it today going through all the old ones and I know a few people are already tuned on to this but if you haven’t check it out – Not all of it is Chicago only – alot of it applies to us all….SoYeahDuh

This one about sums me up….Friday, Friday

Vintage

I don’t do a lot of textures because I usually only take pictures with the sky in them at sunrise or sunset, but I really liked the composition of this photo but hated the lighting (mid-day, sky was cloudless) and when was I ever going to be back in Paris? Thus there wasn’t much that I could do with it. No matter what I did I didn’t like the way it looked. I brought it into OnOne Software though and threw a vintage paper look on it and now I think it actually looks somewhat interesting.

Paris is really timeless and I can’t imagine the skyline has changed much throughout the years. This could have been a postcard I found in an old shoebox of a relative or something like that.

A vintage Paris look!

Surprising?

As a fan of the Detroit Lions I used to casually watch the NFL Draft – the Lions are always bad this I knew – my father always told me and I quote…’they suck, they will suck your whole lifetime and when you have kids they’ll suck through their lifetime’. All that changed for me this year. Yes, it was brief but it was glorious – we actually have a good team now! A feared offense led by the NFL’s best WR and a QB who was in his first full season became the fourth/fifth ever to pass for over 5,000 yards in a season. The Lions played the Saints and got shredded in the second half of their playoff game – the Saints marched up and down the field on them. We were a cornerback (or two) away from making a deeper run – here comes the draft! Time to address their need – I sat in front of the TV on Thursday watching the top secondary players come off the board – the Lions went Offensive Line – okay that’s fine protect a historically fragile player in Matt Stafford. Day 2 – Friday same thing I’m geeked up the draft is going great; a run on offensive lineman leaves the Lions with their choice of relatively high rated corners – who is it going to be I wonder…the pick is in! Barry Sanders steps up to make the pick…okay come one say it, say it….Barry announces the Lions select….Ryan Broyles, Wide Receiver, Oklahoma….ummmm what. To say I was shocked was an understatement – my wife (a Saints fan) had even put her Detroit Lions hat on and gave me her surprised face (like the eTrade baby)!

Okay this picture was from months ago but it looked like a surprised Lion the way she positioned her hands…I was real happy with the way it turned out. She hates that I put it on here but whatever – the next face will be the angry Lion!
